Travis Pollock and Daniel Mata Plaques on Soledad

Aimed for the moon, and we hit the stars!

Thanks to your enthusiastic response to Travis' plaque acquisition, we been asked, and decided to agree to double our efforts so that we could get another one of our brothers up on the walls, Sergeant Daniel Mata, as well. Daniel and Travis knew each other well and served together in Iraq alongside each other in 2003.

Greetings, I am Nathaniel Donnelly, a former Marine who had the privilege to serve alongside my esteemed comrades, Corporal Travis Pollock and Sergeant Daniel Mata, in Iraq back in 2003. Since Travis' unfortunate passing in 2021, there has been a heartfelt desire to honor his memory. Sadly, Daniel just recently passed as well, so we believe this is the right time to have them both honored together. Time is of the essence as the available space for plaques at Mount Soledad is rapidly diminishing. Therefore, we are determined to take action now before our opportunities dwindle.

Our mission is to raise funds to procure two plaques to be installed on the walls of the Mount Soledad National Veterans Memorial in La Jolla, California, commemorating Travis and Daniel's service and legacy. They would stand alongside fellow warriors like Corporal Erik H. Silva and HM2 Michael V. Johnson from the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, who are already immortalized on those hallowed walls.

To accomplish this, we aim to gather $4500.00. This sum will cover the entire process, from the initial design to the placement of the plaques ($1900x2), as well as the acquisition of a framed glossy proof ($200x2) to be presented to Travis and Daniel's family as a cherished memento for their home. Lastly, this will cover the cost of a Veteran Honor Ceremony, which is the actual plaque dedication. As the official sponsor, I will oversee all administrative tasks and design aspects. However, I am open to collaboration with those who wish to contribute ideas, ensuring the final proof is a fitting tribute before it is approved for engraving.
