Our home was brought together from the fields that surrounded it. Those of you who were inside loved the crooked old walls. Having no foundation they bent and curved to accommodate the slow shift in the ground carrying them for what we guess is 257 years. Mr Insurance never liked the curved walls and his list for "required structural modifications" was always out of our budget.
The McCabe Family in Corranny, Roslea, Co Fermanagh can trace their heritage in the cottage. Mc Cabe Aird, Bowen, Waite, MacMahon, Mohan, and Maguire are some of the names in the bloodline that date back to 1790. Using local materials was always our way.
Our home was extendened bit by bit with each generation. Every room was made up made up of open shelves, paneling, wainscoating and detail with pine, larch, beech, oak and ash. The B&Q kitchen adapted to fit countertops of past generations was a goldmine of herbs and spices, as home cooked food were always at the top of the menu in Corranny.
We invite you all to eat, but we'll need a kitchen first, and help building the house to hold the kitchen.
