Caleb's Chest is Correct! :) - Please Share - TY!

July 19 - Caleb had a follow up with Dr. David Hoover at Wake Med.   The staff is amazed at the healing and Caleb continues to get stronger....PTL!  

Caleb needs to gain weight but can start normal activities like swimming!  :)

UPDATE July 2019 thanks for sharing!  Caleb continues to improve each day.  His is still sore and battles with gaining back the ten pounds lost to surgery.  He also has to work to stay hydrated.  His next doctor visit should set him on a path for some everyday activities.

Please Share this update! 6/16. Caleb is up and about thanks to Wake Med and Southside Church and our wonderful family, friends, and neighbors UPDATE 6/4. Caleb had surgery to correct major rib displacement and bone overgrowth

Caleb’s chest wall began to contort when he was in Middle School.  His ribs began to flare outward

This twisting impacts Caleb's physical strength and sometimes makes it hard to breathe. 

There is a large overgrowth of thick, stiff bone at his sternum.  Caleb’s ribs are sunken in low on his side. 

The wonderful staff at WakeMed Chest Wall Deformity Center in Raleigh NC say surgery is the best option for Caleb.

They will operate to repair and recenter Caleb’s chest on June 4, 2019.

BCBS will cover the main cost, but our family will have a copay of $8,000 dollars.  Please help us cover Caleb’s CoPay and related medical expenses.
