Cory Douglas Scholastic Academy was founded on June 15, 2021. Cory Douglas Scholastic Academy is a Private K-8 Academy serving the Northshore area located in Waukegan, IL. At Cory Douglas Scholastic Academy we aim to offer an educational experience that includes a creative and innovative approach to traditional classroom learning. We strive to offer a "BIgger Better Learning" experience to all of our students by identifying each student's unique learning style and carefully crafting our lessons to engage all students regardless of their learning capabilities. We believe that every child processes information differently and we specialize in creating learning environments to suit the needs of all children. Our intent is to nurture the entire student by not only focusing on academics but working to ensure that each student grows to become respectful, well-mannered, responsible, caring, and kind individuals. Some of you may know and others may not know about the meaning of the name of my school so I want to share a little bit of my personal story. Cory Douglas Jernigan was my oldest brother who passed away in 2020 after battling cancer for several years. Cory was my best friend. We shared the same birthdate which enhanced our connection as siblings. After his passing, I was devastated, but I decided to make my stamp in the world just as he did. Anyone who crossed paths with Cory was affected in a positive way. He could light up a room with his smile, humor, and adventurous nature. Most importantly he always pushed me to do Bigger and Better things. Hence the slogan "Bigger Better Learning" With all that has been said I hope that you can understand the significance of this venture, and here's how you can honor my brother and wish me and my business partner Mrs. Yasmine Shotuyo well on our journey to making a difference.
