Cory Heft and his dog, Rocky shot in Home Invasion

A shot dog and Two bullets in the back for breakfast. That's what Cory Heft woke up to at 7:30am Wednesday morning. During a robbery attempt, two intruders broke in his front door and brutally attacked Cory while he was sleeping. Upon waking to a pistol beating, Cory reacted and defended himself; his dog, Rocky, was right in front leading the battle. Shots were fired. Rocky took a bullet for Cory that went through his leg and into Cory. A second shot struck Cory directly. Cory spent one night in the hospital and has been released. He will have to live with a bullet permanently lodged near his spine. The brave dog, Rocky, was shot and will have to have his leg amputated. Rocky is a hero, he just may have saved Cory's life. We are blessed that Cory's daughter, Cloe, left for school just moments before and was not home during this horrible incident. Two men broke into Cory's home and stole their sense of security and the peace of mind that one has in their own home. What a horrible thing to be awoken to on a Wednesday morning in your own home. This could happen to any of us at any time. Cory is a single parent and needs our help.
