Cory Walls Cancer Journey

Hi, my name is Jeanette Acker Salguero, and I am setting up this fundraiser on behalf of my Brother-In-Law, Cory Walls. Cory married my sister, Nicole, almost 8 years ago, and since they have brought three precious kiddos into this crazy world-Stetson (6), Avery (4), and Christina (18mo). Unfortunately, Cory was recently diagnosed with an extremely rare and extremely aggressive form of cancer, turning their lives upside down.

Cory started with rib and scapular pain in April, which was relieved with rest and stretches, so it was attributed to musculoskeletal pain. However, the pain continued to worsen over a matter of weeks and began affecting various other areas of his body, which prompted further evaluation. He received the official (and devastating) diagnosis in November, and the Walls family hit the ground running and are fighting this with everything they have.

What we know- Cory's official diagnosis is stage IV Angiosarcoma, a rare and aggressive cancer that makes up less than 0.01% of cancers diagnosed yearly. Cory has two large masses in his chest which have caused a couple of rib fractures, and a large mass in his right adductor muscle, making walking a bit challenging. In addition, he has lesions in his liver, several vertebrae and his pelvis/femur, a very small nodule in his heart, and several pathological fractures of his ribs/spine. Cory has now completed two rounds of an aggressive, continuous chemo infusion of AIM. His first round of chemo caused many complications, prolonging his initial hospital stay, but his second round went much better.

As of now, Cory is undergoing care and treatment in Lubbock, TX; however, he has an appointment next week to establish care at MD Anderson in Houston, TX. With that being said, the Walls family is anticipating increased expenses with travel to/from Houston.
