Get Cory back on his feet

His name is Cory Gill and your generosity might be the difference to help him out of this extremely difficult time in his life. Cory is a full time mechanic at Phil’s Auto Pro in Greeley, CO. He’s a loving boyfriend, a fellow yachtsman and an irreplaceable member of a well-respected community known as Inlet Bay Marina at Horsetooth Reservoir.
Last year Cory suffered a debilitating knee injury that required major surgery and is looking at a very real chance that the knee will need to be replaced at some point in the future. Four (4) surgeries, three (3) major infections, a few pic lines and several long stays in the hospital later and Cory was on a first name bases with the entire medical staff. Needless to say, Cory battled through recovery like a champ and came out of the other side with high spirits and a determined, positive attitude towards regaining his health. If you know him personally, you know that he always has a ready smile and while he has been thankful to be able to walk unassisted again, he is being buried by a mountain of medical bills. He’s never complained about these bills. He just did what was necessary to regain his health and mobility so that he could get back to work as soon as he was able to do so.
Fast forward to just last weekend: Cory suffered a major setback when he fell from the bow of his boat and reinjured his knee and broke the femur on the same leg. He’s had another surgery to repair the damage and has been given more hardware (plates, rods and screws) to keep it all together…again. I don’t care how old you are or how fit you are, this kind of injury is life altering and excruciating. His recovery will be long (6-10 months), he’ll have several follow up visits and potential follow up surgeries, they just don’t know, yet, but he’s in a lot of pain right now and is very likely worried about how he’s going to manage his life during his recovery.
Why are we sharing this with you? Quite simply, we’re sharing to ask you to help our friend with some of the expenses that he’s looking at from this new setback. His income is dependent on his ability to perform his job and he is not going to be able to manage working at the shop for quite a while.
He would never ask this for himself, so we are asking for him. Pride is a difficult emotion for the best of us to overcome and, if you know Cory, you know that he is a very prideful person and loves to do and give to the people in his life. It will be hard for him to accept that same kindness from others and while he is aware that we are doing this, he’s uncomfortable knowing that he is in a position where he has to admit that he needs some help. Cory’s humble nature and joyful spirit has given happiness to everyone that has enjoyed his company, let’s do what we can to help him see that he is part of a community that cares for their own. Lift up your hearts, send him positive thoughts and prayers and give what you can to help him.
Thank you all in advance for your kindness and generosity.
