The Jack Costello Boxing Club

The Jack Costello Boxing Club is a non profit gym in Northeast philadelphia. We depend on donations and support from the community to keep our doors open and the lights on. Jack Costello was a hall of fame trainer that dedicated most of his life to helping others in any way he could. By teaching them how to box he would keep kids off the streets, instill discipline, be a freind and for some a father figure. His kids wanted to continue that legacy and continue to help the kids of the community. In march of 1996 the Jack Costello Boxing Club opened its doors. The day to day operations are overseen by Jacks son, Tim Costello with the help of his sister Carolyn and the trainers who are all voulenteers. Everyone who helps out at the gym are voulenteers. No one makes a cent at the gym. The monthly dues required are at the absolute minimum. There are kids that can't afford thier dues every month but are never turned away. Some of the trainers even come out of their own pockets to help out. Every year we have an event to raise money for the gym to buy equipment and pay the bills. The money we raise through this go fund me will assist with that. This go fund me was set up mostly for people that want to donate but can not make it to the fundraiser. We just make it every year thanks to the continued support of the community. Everybody that donates plays a part in helping the community by helping these kids learn discipline, become respectful adults and giving them a place to go other than hanging on the corner.
