Costs associated with Maggie's double transplant

Maggie needed a double transplant which can only happen in Toronto (Maggie lives in Ottawa)as there are only 3 hospitals in Canada that do them.

She received a kidney and a pancreas. She had 3 surgeries in total. The third was to remove the kidney as it clotted. She has had so many complications and her hospital stay has been 47 days now.

Her partner has stayed in the city as she required a health advocate and a caregiver otherwise she would have been alone with no support. The accommodations have racked up a huge bill that no organization or government program will cover.

She will also require medical devices once discharged such as a wheelchair rental, a walker and various things for the home such as grab bars.

This should not be something they are stressing about after all they have been through. She should be focusing on healing.
