Costs associated with Maggie's double transplant
Donation protected
Maggie needed a double transplant in May, which could only happen in Toronto (Maggie lives in Ottawa) as there are only three hospitals in Canada that do them.
She received a kidney and a pancreas. She had three surgeries in total. The third was to remove the kidney as it clotted. She has had so many complications and her hospital stay has been 59 days and counting (since May 10th, 2024).
Her partner has stayed in the city, as she required a health advocate and a caregiver otherwise she would have been alone with no support. The accommodations have racked up a huge bill ($20k+) that no organization or government program will cover.
Besides transportation costs to and from ($400+) and recovery apparel (e.g. compression socks, orthopaedic footwear), Maggie will also require mobility / therapy devices once discharged, such as a wheelchair rental, a walker ($150) and various things for the home such as shower-stool and grab bars ($50):

This should not be something they are stressing about after all they have been through. She should be focusing on healing.
Thank you all.
