Could You Help Cover Costs of Hotel Stay in DC?

My name is Carlos Buford, and I have taken on the responsibility of raising $3,836 for Hotel stays for 13 people in Washington, DC, for this year’s historic milestone, the 60th Anniversary March on Washington, DC, scheduled for August 26, 2023.

I have chosen 12 participants (four overseers, two activists, and six victims of gun violence and police brutality) in our community to experience a vital moment to engage outside their usual circles while participating in something more significant.

My platforms, Urban Citizens for Social Justice (2013) and Black Lives Matter Dayton (2019), have played an intricate role in the Dayton community for some time now but are self-funded and without non-profit status.

The work is often gruesome with no fanfare, and I and others have witnessed firsthand victims that have repeatedly faced a system that has failed them, so I am pushing for a few of us to pause to calm our minds and breathe.

Although resources have been a challenge, I plan to continue this annual event to enlighten individuals and give them an outlet that ultimately results in a call to action.

Therefore, I would greatly appreciate it if you could help me raise enough funds to cover the costs of the four rooms.

All participants, including myself, will be responsible for van rental costs, insurance, gas, toll fees, parking, and dinner meals.

Your help will encourage the work done in our community while it is a moment to reflect, breathe, and reset for some attending this event. Could you help cover the hotel costs?

If we surpass our donation goal, those funds will be designated for the sole purpose of hotel stay for next year's 61st Anniversary March in Washington, D.C.

However, if this trip is canceled, all refunds will be immediately returned to you.

The cutoff date is midnight Friday, August 18, 2023.
