Counter Culture Diva Musical

I am a five-foot Diva in six-inch heels, a writer and performer who wrote this musical based on my memoir, My Life a Four Letter Word: Confessions of a Counter Culture Diva. The story takes you on a bumpy ride from my gray days in New Jersey where my Italian immigrant father disowned me after the birth of my mixed-race daughter. As a single mom my acting up led me to the Gay days where I entertained the boys on bar tops and took my act into women's prisons. At the heart of the story my Queer family rescues me and my unwanted baby Viva and tranforms me into the Diva I am today. The backdrop of the story has me navigating the tumultuous post-Stonewall days of ‘70’s Gay San Francisco, with my new best friend Divine and the gender bending troup known as the Cockettes. The journey led me to drugs, disco, AIDS, and more losses to eventually healing old wounds through loving friends and forgiveness.

The funds will be used for the first Live Theater Workshop and Video at the Blue Door Theater in Culver City in Early January. Remaining funds will support another local LA Co- Production, to be determined.
