Courageous Beginnings

Hi, my name is Donna and I'm fundraising for Raina Askew, my Goddaughter. The consummate caregiver Raina Askew, who’s taken care of numerous infants and children during her extensive career as a nanny, learned of her own pregnancy just over a month ago. In short order she moved from shock, anxiety, and ambivalence to acceptance and excitement for her unexpected midlife-pregnancy which she views as a gift from God. On June 29th at just over 25 weeks pregnant, Raina was hospitalized with a severe infection of unknown origin and was told she would have to remain in hospital until a safe delivery could be achieved (about 9 weeks). As she prepared for an extended hospital stay, Hampton Quinn Askew Tillman, took center stage and was born on July 1st at 10:08 CDT at just 1 pound 15 ounces and 3 months early. He’s currently in the neonatal intensive care unit at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center in Houston, Texas and will be there for what is expected to be at least 2 months as the dedicated doctors and nurses work hard to ensure he survives and thrives into the future. Devoted mother Raina has been through a lot this past week but is hanging in there and has been released from the hospital in the care of her mother and will require recovery time before she can resume work again. Until then, she needs emergency financial assistance from family, friends, and caring communities to help pay for everyday living expenses. Please give what you can to support Raina during this challenging time as she transitions from hospital care to life at home and prepares to bring baby Hampton home. Thank you in advance for your generosity and prayers.
