Courageous Captain

Captain has been a member of our family for years, sadly he got out of the backyard and went exploring only to get struck by a car.

His major injuries include two broken legs, his front paw is cut down to his bone, and a huge laceration on his hind quarters where he was struck. He also sustained four pavement injuries where he may have been dragged by the striking vehicle along with some brain swelling.

With all those injuries he managed to make it back to our front porch and even though he was too weak to stand he greeted our kids by wagging his tail when they went out to look for him after realizing he was gone.

Captain spent two nights in the veterinarians hospital and responded well to the initial treatments. He wounds will require daily treatments for about two months and possible orthopedic surgery on one of his legs however the doctors expect him to make a full recovery. He has been dubbed "Captain Courageous" by those who know him.
