Courtlyn & Rachael on Mission to Cambodia

Hi there,

In high school, I went to San Francisco each spring break to serve in the Tenderloin. I loved the opportunity to see challenges I didn't often see in my daily life in Folsom. Several years ago, our family went to Mexico on a short-term mission trip and I appreciated the opportunity to take my faith and energy beyond my local community and share God's light with others in a much more difficult life than what I faced each day. I wanted to reach out further and challenge myself more. Our church (Lakeside) announced a short-term mission trip to Cambodia and I was instantly interested.

My Mom, Rachael, and I read about Cambodia. It is a country with extensive poverty and sex trafficking. The victims can be very young and some are sold by their own families in desperation and with no hope of earning enough money otherwise. The more we read, the more difficult it was to imagine life in Cambodia and the more convinced we both were that we were ready to head to Cambodia and take our light and joy to those in desperate need of the hope we have.

We are going on a mission trip with AIM (Agape International Missions) and Lakeside Church to Cambodia. We are visiting missionaries who serve girls rescued from sex trafficking. Our goals on this trip when we visit AIM ministries in Cambodia are:

● Spend quality time with the rehabilitated children and adults and show them the love of Christ and how valuable they are

● Help with Kids Club crafts at the church in the afternoons

● Spend time with young mothers to encourage them and give them time to rest

● Have meals with AIM staff and connect with them

● Praying for AIM and with AIM staff
