Courtney & Cara’s Adoption Journey

Donation protected
Hi there, my name is Britney and I am the sister of Courtney, the sister-in-law of Cara, and the aunt of these beautiful 4 girls. This particular story is a heartbreaking one, from beginning to end. Let me backtrack to the beginning for those who don't know. Cara and Courtney met about 5 years ago. Cara was previously in an extremely violent and toxic marriage prior. The man that she was with was abusive physically and mentally and threatened her life on numerous occasions. This man had found out that Cara and Court were in a relationship and broke into their home and attacked and committed horrendous life-threatening violent crimes, putting both Court, Cara, and the children in danger. He did get incarcerated and has been imprisoned ever since, with numerous attempts of trying to get out early. He has posted major threats to this family if/ when he does get out. Since the incident, Cara and Court have gotten married, and it had been in the works of Court being able to adopt these 4 children and be able to raise them as his own. It has always been a dream of Court's to be a father and he has always treated the girls as his own. The youngest child was a baby when she was introduced to Court so he is all she knows. All four of the girls call Courtney "dad" and would be lost without him. After months and months of trying to get everything legally to proceed with the adoption, it was official! On September 13, 2023, Courtney was officially the father of those 4 girls. The judge saw that in every possible way Court was fit to be their dad, and the biological parent (who was incarcerated) lost his rights. Cara knew at this point in their life the worrying and the scares of that man having to be in their lives were finally over. They had served him protection orders and he was to not contact them. He then found out where they lived, threatened them, and sent hidden letters to those kids promising that he would get them back. So yesterday they received a phone call that this man has appealed the adoption. Their attorney told them it will be a minimum of $7,000 to fight him against this. I understand that times are hard for everyone financially, but I have seen this family put blood sweat, and tears into fighting in court back and forth, and have put every penny into this adoption. I know that anything, even $5.00 is better than nothing. Court and Cara have always been there for all of us and we love their sweet family so much so I am just asking that anyone, if able of course, can help pitch in anything to help them be able to fight this. This will devistate those children, and if anything, they don't deserve this.
