Courtney Skinner Expedition LBD-Lewy Body Dementia
Donation protected
Courtney Jay Skinner - mountaineer, grandfather, brother, educator, skier, conservationist, and explorer - received a diagnosis of moderate Lewy body dementia in January. In December, Courtney and his wife Maria traveled to Florida to see her family for the holidays and escape the Wyoming cold. Not long after the New Year, the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville diagnosed and began treating Courtney. Presently the medications do not seem to be having the effect desired.
The pandemic adds challenges to an already difficult situation and may have hastened, and potentially hidden, the disease progression. As we navigate the disease progression, it's clear that while a final "summit plan" is not in place there are many "camps/goals" that will need to be established with hopefully the summit goal of getting dad back to Wyoming. The funding will be used to help meet medical obligations, caregiving, transportation costs, hearing aid purchase and possibly housing.
