Courtney's Deployment to Ukraine

My name is Courtney Pollock, and I am a Firefighter/Paramedic for Weber Fire District. Long before becoming a paramedic, I sought ways to be a part of something bigger than myself; helping those in need has become a passion of mine and something I plan to do for as long as possible.

Volunteering as a paramedic has given me ways to help people in dire situations throughout our world. Currently, I am volunteering with Global Outreach Doctors** (GoDocs), a non-government organization, and 501(c)(3). I will be leaving for a month at the end of December, deploying to Ukraine. This will be my second time volunteering for a medical mission in Ukraine, and after returning home last time, I knew I wanted to go back and continue helping. GoDocs is currently focused on medical evacuations and on location care of the sick and wounded. This is a unique opportunity; it will have many challenges, it will be humbling and rewarding, unforgettable, and most of all, impactful.

This deployment is going to require more gear than what I currently own*. The most expensive items will be body armor and helmet, over $3000. Beyond personal protective equipment, I am in need of extreme cold weather gear, travel bags, and some other specific equipment requested by those currently in country such as MREs, medical supplies, and Kevlar blankets. I plan to leave anything I do not need to get out of Ukraine, for the soldiers and civilians that desperately need anything we can offer (including the body armor and helmet).

I am requesting monetary donations so that I may purchase these items in the next few weeks. Any dollar amount left over, beyond the gear purchased, will be donated to GoDocs and specific groups within Ukraine.
