Cover ALS Care Costs for Chris Truchan

Donation protected
On March 29 of 2021, Chris Truchan, was diagnosed with Progressive Juvenile-Onset Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease). He was only 23 years old at the time of his diagnosis. Juvenile ALS is a progressive and ultimately terminal neuromuscular condition that is diagnosed in less than 1 out of every 1 million people. Since Chris has had ALS for 2 years, he has lost the ability to move any part of his body and is now on a ventilator. Although Chris is currently in a hospital, within the next week, he will be returning home where he can be surrounded by his loving family and friends. His medical care costs will be high as ALS is not only one of the most expensive health conditions in the world but also very stressful for the family and caregivers. We are writing to you in the hopes that the community can help us make his time together with his family and friends as meaningful and fulfilling as possible.

Chris was born in Camarillo, California and later attended school in Rancho Santa Margarita, California. His father is from North Dakota and his Mom is from Iowa. He also has a brother Tyler and the constant companionship of his two dogs Sonny and Blaze. Before his ALS diagnosis, Chris loved golfing with his dad Wayne; gardening with his mom Maria, and hanging out at the beach and boogie boarding. In addition, he had a passion for cooking and baking. His specialty was Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookies which his family and friends always enjoyed. He was also an avid gamer and especially liked the video game League of Legends. In sports, he is a huge fan of Shohei Ohtani of the Angels and Austin Reaves of the Lakers. He has always loved plants and nature and would have been especially thrilled to see the Northern Lights. However, the #1 love of his life is his girlfriend and caregiver Skyler Tucker. She spends all her time with him and loves him dearly. Overall, Chris is a beautiful private soul who wants a cure for ALS and to have a long happy life.

The Truchan family is facing many direct costs related to ALS, including (but not limited to), medical testing, copays, medications, and at-home care. Please join us in honoring Chris by donating any amount you can. We’re endlessly grateful for any contribution you have the capacity to make.
