Cover CSM's Vet Bills for Max

CSM Retired Paul Zedalis is the epitome of selfless. Whether as a leader in the Army over the course of a 30 year career, as a guide at Quail Quest, or as a youth hunting mentor he always gives freely. He invests his time in others as a way of bettering his community. Anyone knows him can speak to this, but if you wanted to know what really gets him going, it's his dog's! Paul loves his dogs! Whether it's longtime companions or new rescues he gives them the best life possible. Unfortunately, today I woke up and discovered the following messages:
Well Damn!! I swear if it's not one thing it's another! My best hunting dog, GSP Max, is officially OUT for hunting the 2023-24 bird season. Several weeks ago he tore his left ACL. He was scheduled for surgery on that on 21 June.
This morning I heard a loud yelp while he was out doing his business and, he tore his right side ACL now. Doc Stenstrom ( a superb Vet and hunter) said there was a good chance that it may happen and was not uncommon.
I'm not worried about the money to fix both ACLs, which will run us between 6K and 8K...but he IS my TOP dog, and there is nothing we won't do for him. At least Doc eased my fears somewhat and told me with the surgery and rehab he will be back in top form hunting again and the "repair" is actually stronger then before. With the one ACL tear he could have been rehabbed and hunted about mid-fall. But you can't perform surgeries on two ACLs at the same time. So at least a year or more recovery.
Fortunately I have GSP Daisy (she's about as damn good if not better then Max sometimes), both of my labs Private, and Trooper (who are both awesome hunters). And Large Munsterlander Pepper (who will have to step up as she's never hunted over clients before, just for me). So I still have two pointer/retrievers and two flusher/retrievers.
But it's really going to suck not having my go-to "Big Guy" out in the field this season and it's going to kill him, AND ME!!"
This seems like a perfect time to give back and say thanks for 30 years of selfless service and then continuing it in retirement with selfless acts. Let's pool together and cover this surgery for his pup!
