Cover medical bills from my father's cancer

Last year in October, my parents went down to Florida to help my grandfather with the damages that occurred due to Hurricane Ian. What we thought was going to be a short trip, was my parents deciding to stay down there until my grandparent’s house was fixed and my grandfather was in good health.

Fast forward to this past summer, my dad was involved in a work-related incident (he got run over by a golf cart lol) that required him to go to the doctor. Since he was there the doctor suggested a physical. To make a long story short, his doctor found a lump on the side of his neck. A biopsy was performed and my dad was diagnosed with stage 4 nasopharyngeal cancer (NPC).

With this new diagnosis and issues with the Florida medical system, we concluded that they would move back to New York and begin his treatment at Upstate. Which has been a great experience. His medical team has been amazing and extremely positive at every doctor’s appointment.

So, what’s his treatment plan? Unfortunately, surgery was not an option due to the size and location of the tumor. He received 3 cycles of chemotherapy; 2 weeks of treatment with one week off. After those 3 cycles, he willl be undergoing radiation with the possibility of more chemotherapy every day for 7 weeks. Luckily, his PET scan showed that the cancer hadn’t spread to other parts of his body so he will be just fine.

If you know my dad either as a coach, camp counselor, friend, or family, you know he’s as stubborn as they come. He’s strong, he’s healthy, and a pain in my ass so beating cancer is going to be a walk in the park.

Since then, his tumor has gone away but they continued with the plan to do chemo with his radiation. However, his taste buds took a massive hit and it was hard for him to eat. He lost 28lbs pounds in less than a month and it was decided that we would go to the hospital to be under observation and he was there for over a week

Since he has been diagnosed in October, he has been unemployed. My dad has always worked and we've made due to not having his income. Now with the extra expenses of the hospital bill, any help would be amazing.

Thank you! From my family to yours, I hope good health comes to all of you in 2024.
