Help cover medical costs for Dylan Zmaila

Hi, my name is Courtney Nieder. I am best friends with Dylan’s sister Danielle. I feel like an extension of their family given how close we’ve been for so many years. Dylan is like another brother to me.

On Monday, July 10th Dylan was involved in a serious motorcycle accident. His initial injuries included brain bleeding & swelling, facial fractures, spinal fractures, compression fractures in his thoracic cavity, two broken wrists, broken pelvis, internal bleeding & road rash. We are all immensely grateful to the neuro surgeon who completed life saving brain surgery to stop the brain bleed & help with brain swelling upon his arrival to the hospital. Dylan remains in the ICU & is currently sedated & on a ventilator.

It’s a true miracle Dylan is still with us. The power of prayer & medicine combined has us all feeling incredibly fortunate. It goes without saying, he is going to have a rollercoaster of a ride back to life as he knew it before. They’re uncertain how long he will need to remain in the ICU at this time, but he will need to go to a rehabilitation facility once he’s ready. The family has been informed the rehab facility will either be in St. Louis, Chicago, or Springfield. They will sadly not get to pick the location; it will be based solely on who has an opening for Dylan when he’s ready.

So many people have reached out with an unwavering need to want to help. The Zmaila/Maroon family did not ask for this-in fact, they tried to fight me on it quite a few times-but at this time, I feel like the most generous thing we can do is try to raise funds to assist with covering the cost of Dylan’s medical bills, traveling expenses, & rehabilitation costs to help offset any of the additional stress & worry that we all know comes with that. And if you are not in a position to donate, the continued prayers, love & support to this family are just as readily welcomed!
