Help Cover Pepper's Vet & Cremation Bills

Donation protected
Hi there, my name is Bailey and I'm creating this fundraiser to help cover the outrageous veterinarian costs to cover Pepper, my roommate Helena's cat's vet bills.

Late Thursday afternoon (4/27/23), Pepper was relaxing in my room with me and my partner, Lily, when he suddenly started crying out loud. He had never done this before, so we immediately went to investigate. He had dragged himself by his front paws to a space in my closet, a place he never goes, and was just crying loudly. I picked him up, still crying, and brought him to the landing outside my room to get a better look at him. He had lost function in his rear legs. A condition we would later that evening learn was caused by a blood clot in his lower half. This condition is called saddle thrombus, and unfortunately, only 50% of cases survive. The condition is also incredibly painful, but with the aid of pain and anti-clotting medication, it can lead to partial or full recovery given enough time.

We were advised to euthanize Pepper initially, being told he had a 50% chance of surviving the night at the vet clinic. The day after that was changed to a 1 in 10 chance of surviving, and he was discharged with medication. We've had him at home since then, he has shown a minute amount of improvement during the time we've been caring for him.

He has sensation in one of his legs, and can even kick with it, but the other leg seems to be very limp. He is still refusing to eat or drink so we have had to force feed him, wash him, and constantly monitor him. This is exhausting work, Myself and Helena have not slept much in the last few days and we're almost out of medication.

With your help, either financial or boosting to others that may be able to offer financial aid, we would like to return Pepper to the vet to have him looked over again, and potentially stay an extra night for a round of IV fluids.

Our initial vet bill is around the $2,100 mark, and if he were to stay the night it would be an additional $1,000 + medication cost. For Helena, this is crippling as she is currently out of work.

We're not ready to give up on our little guy. He has brought so much joy to our lives just by existing. He's an attentive therapy animal, a loving and oftentimes hilarious goofball. He's also way too young. It would be devastating if this were to cut his years short.

So please, if you can spare anything to help cover the treatment he needs, every little bit helps right now.
