Covering bills while Barry recovers!

Updates! 4/7/24

Barry is doing well! He's at Luxe Rehab in Lancaster and is working hard to be able to go home. He's hoping to catch the Eclipse tomorrow from the parking lot.

When he does go home, Barry is hoping to see lots of folks and would welcome support or company for cooking dinner, doing laundry (way down in the basement), and doing super fun chores and stuff!

Barry is himself. If you can visit, you'll have a great time! He even has snacks to share.

Backstory:

He is doing well, considering, but Barry suffered a stroke this month and has been hospitalized for the last couple weeks. His family is helping out and making sure Autumn (who is 12 now!!!) gets where she needs to go, but there is a lot that needs to be handled and everyone is stretched thin.

Barry has been off of work with a back injury, which was about to be addressed when an aneurysm in his brain burst. Remarkably, this happened at the hospital, so he was treated quickly and has come through the other end with his faculties intact and some movement in all of his limbs. He is able to talk some but is not himself yet.

Because of unexpected additional time off, his savings are now completely wiped out and the family needs help to cover the regular bills like mortgage, utilities, and car payment. We'll worry about the medical bills down the road, right now we just want to make sure Barry doesn't have to worry about Autumn having a roof over her head while their family figures out next steps!

And, if you don't know me, I'm Shannon. I served in AmeriCorps with Barry and have known him and Autumn for 10 years, and now I'm getting to know his calm and capable brother Ryan and his sweet, optimistic Dad. Jay Bird is also still friends with Barry, for all you Buckeye Trail folks, and they have also been making very cool artisan furniture and wood products together! Hopefully that's something Barry can get back to soon.
