Hello everyone,

My name is Stacy Basham (Kershner, formerly known as Stacy Gibbs), and I am reaching out to you in a time of desperate need. In 2022, I faced the toughest battle of my life against COVID-19. I was on the brink of death, hooked up to a ventilator, and doctors weren't optimistic about my chances of survival. My family, including my then 8-year-old daughter, were told to prepare for the worst. But against all odds, I defied expectations and woke up from a 59-day coma.

It was nothing short of a miracle according to my doctors, my pastor and spiritual guiders. I am grateful to be alive and to have the opportunity to watch my daughter grow up. But the aftermath of my illness has presented its own set of challenges. I struggled with my health and my employment since then, trying to rebuild my life from scratch, a life that they said I would NEVER have. In February 2023, I was given an incredible opportunity to be on a reality show called The Blox, which focused on entrepreneurship. It was one of the most uplifting experiences in my life and it reignited my passion for success. However, despite my best efforts, I faced setbacks and failures in some of my business endeavors and had some success too. I became unemployed in November 2023, relying on the support of family to get by. But I overstayed my welcome or such and ended up moving to a friend's home temporarily so my daughter and I had a place to live. Within the first few weeks I had an accident that broke and dislocated my foot.in multiple places. Not just tiny fractures either.

I have a 10 yr old girl who means the world to me. I am the parent who has full time custody currently. But I will do what's best for her. She doesn't need to experience things that could happen, like any form of homelessness for mommy or her.

I need to raise funds for first month's rent and a security deposit to secure a home (apartment, etc.) for my daughter and me in Maryland. Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a difference. If each person in my network donates just $2 to $5, it would greatly help and we can start rebuilding our lives.

Right now all moneys are paying for a hotel so I can spend this week with her while I figure out what can be done next.

But I understand that not everyone is in a position to give, and that's okay. For those who can contribute, your generosity will not go unnoticed. As a token of my gratitude, I will highlight the names or business names of all donors in one of the now 4 to 5 books I'm currently working on. Your support will not only help us secure housing but also propel my writing aspirations forward. You can also make a donation in memory of someone you lost to Covid if you like or perhaps to a victim/survivor of domestic violence.

I know it's a lot to ask, and I wish I had reached out sooner. But now, time is out, and I need your help more than ever. Please consider donating and sharing our story with your networks. Together, we can prevent a mother from facing the harsh reality of homelessness.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for your generosity.

Additionally, if you have a place in Maryland I can stay for a little bit that would also help. I also believe that some people can donate their free night stays to hotels, restaurant gift cards etc. if that peaks your interest instead of donating money.

With gratitude,

Stacy and Carissa
