Covid help for NIMS India
Donation protected
We are raising funds to support the tireless efforts of the medical and nursing teams attending to COVID patients at the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Hyderabad, India.
NIMS is a large, public funded, multi specialty, academic teaching hospital in the southern metropolitan city of Hyderabad, India. The current massive surge in COVID admissions has overwhelmed the intensive care unit (ICU) and high dependency unit (HDU) bed capacity of the hospital.
The hospital is catering to several hundred COVID patients, many of them needing advanced respiratory support. Doctors and nurses are trying to do their best with overstretched resources. Hundreds of lives are at risk.
Many deaths could be avoided if appropriate support can be provided in time. Your donation will help critically unwell patients with COVID.

NIMS Director, Dr K Manohar has appealed for help to support staff and patients navigate this unprecedented crisis situation.
About the fundraising team (Who are we?)
The organizer and all the team members of this team fundraiser are senior hospital doctors, working in the UK NHS for a number of years. All have deep roots in India, especially the city of Hyderabad. We have excellent knowledge of local conditions. This combined with our close links with healthcare professionals working on the frontline is helping us understand the pressing needs of the hour and plan a rapid response strategy with a personal touch.
Relationship of the fundraiser team to the intended recipient
We are raising funds to support the NIMS hospital, in our home town of Hyderabad, India. Many of us have a deep and meaningful connection with this public funded academic teaching hospital through our medical school and later years. We are working closely with our friends in senior faculty positions in the departments of medicine, infectious diseases and ICU at this institute to gain a better understanding of the needs on the ground.
How will the donations be spent?
Funds raised through this campaign will be used to provide resources for frontline healthcare workers to help them look after an excessively large number of patients resulting from the current COVID surge in the city. In conjunction with local medical teams, we are identifying equipment / resources required urgently to help them cope with the situation. The list includes, but is not limited to: multi-channel ICU monitors, disposable CPAP masks, disposable high flow nasal cannulae and circuits, invasive and non-invasive ventilators, oxygen concentrators, finger pulse oximeters and PPE equipment.
How will funds be delivered to the intended recipient?
Funds from the team fundraiser will initially be withdrawn into a UK bank account belonging to the organizer. These will then be utilized to finance purchase of equipment to be delivered to the NIMS, Hyderabad. Wherever possible, we will aim to purchase from local suppliers based in India with payment arranged by international money transfer originating from the organizer's UK bank account. If some equipment is not available in India, we will consider sourcing it from UK or USA to be delivered by courier to the recipient. The fundraising team will keep an accurate record of all financial transactions and provide regular updates to donors on this platform.
