URGENT: COVID health & economic AID: Mercedes Herrera
This humble grassroots organizer, Mercedes Herrera, has been infected by the COVID-19 virus and is pleating for help. Though her hopes are high, 3 months to TODAY in the hospital has caused her to lost her job, caught pneumonia fighting COVID, and now is facing economic difficulties keeping a roof over her 18 year old son as her savings depleted.

Mercedes reached out to me to ONLY bring food to her teenage kid, which prompted me to go above and beyond for a person that has given so much to the community. I asked for her permission to host a fundraiser for her. She is a VERY humble woman that is shy to ask, but when she told me about her child at home, my heart melted.
I, Ivan A. Sanchez, personally vouch for her, this is her short story:
• Started as a janitor in 2005, cleaning restrooms
• In 2006, she helped organize a strike to protect janitors
• She became a labor union leader & started volunteering
• Then sent to go study leadership in a university in Wisconsin
• 1st organizing job with Mi Familia Vota, registering Latinos to vote
• Became an organizer for Fe y Justicia helping workers recover stolen wages
• Then went back to SEIU to help renew the janitors contract and benefits
• In late 2020, caught COVID-19
This is just a small part of her story on how she's been fighting for justice for all the workers in Houston. She doesn't ask for much, just a small $5 donation or what you can.
She gathered her courage and became a Houston organizer. She has literally help hundreds if not thousands of voiceless people, and we should stand tall with her. Please join me in donating.
Have a wonderful blessed day.
