Covid Relief for Trans SWs in Guyana
Donation protected
Twinkle Paul is a Trans woman from Guyana currently living in NYC. She and Ceyenne Doroshow are raising funds to provide needed services to Trans SWs in Guyana including food, safety supplies and rental assistance. $5000 will cover these supplies for 20-35 individuals who are at extremely high risk of violence for up to two months!
Video Transcript:
Twinkle: I’m Twinkle Paul, community activist and freshman college student. And this is:
Ceyenne: Ceyenne Doroshow. I'm the founder of G.L.I.T.S. Inc. and her mom.
Twinkle: Covid 19 has affected us all. Trans women in Guyana, whose only option of survival is sex work are at risk of police brutality and prosecution if they violate Covid 19 stay at home orders.
Ceyenne: This work is hard to do. What Twinkles is telling you is her experience of what the young women are going through. I just got off the phone with Guyana and they're in need of care.
They're in need of a safe space. And they're in need of utensils, masks, gloves, alcohol, washing detergent, everything we would normally need here. This fight for Covid 19 is not just here, it's a global effort. And as a sex worker, I believe in all sex workers getting to where they need to be, sustainable.
Twinkle: So to provide transgender women with two months of rental assistance, food supplies and care products, I am partnering with my mom to raise money for this cause.
Ceyenne: This money will not only ensure their care, it maybe buys a couple of months of safety until a bigger plan can be figured out for after Covid 19 what help for this community looks like.
