We are a collective of 11 Indonesian musicians based in The Netherlands who rallied together at 11 000 km from our homeland to support the most vulnerables under the deadliest stage of the pandemic in Indonesia by producing a music-film.
In July 2021, the Indonesian government announced PPKM, an emergency strict lockdown to fight against the highly contagious Delta variant ravaging the densely populated islands, Java and Bali. In a time in which numbers of cases and deaths were exploding, a wave of local and young initiatives emerged to help the most vulnerable communities affected not only by the virus but also by the restrictions. For most people who work from home this lockdown only limited their leisures, but for the rest it is a threat to loose their daily basic needs. The Covid-19 outbreak and the extended lockdown periods had a direct impact on the food security situation, putting million of vulnerable household in difficulty.
All proceeds will go to "Aksi kami", a local foundation based in Yogyakarta working on :
- Food security: by providing meals for the most vulnerable communities who have run out of provisions, or experience hunger, because of the lockdown and Covid-19 restrictions.
- Medical supplying: by providing oxygen, vitamins, rapid antigen tests, masks, and hydroalcoholic gel.
- Raising awareness: educating local communities on health protocol and long term recovery from the crisis.
A transparency report of their activities will be share on our social media, if you would like to receive it by email please contact us by email . For Dutch citizens you can also benefit from tax deduction, as the bank account belongs to a foundation that has ANBI.
Di antara is telling our attempt to overcome the feeling of distance and helplessness by bridging people together. It started with a breath of solidarity sent by the vibrant local youth in yogyakarta who inspired us to unite our resources, creativity and networks in support. Di antara became our wish to connect people beyond borders, race, and beliefs to raise awareness and emergency funds to support a local foundation "Aksi kami" born under the emergency lockdown in Yogyakarta.
This is our story but could also be yours.
