To all of our beloved customers, old and new, many of you may know us as the Ma, Vuong, and Taing Family. My name is Tong and I am writing to you on behalf of my family. Twin Lion has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember and I have come to view guests here as a part of my extended family. Therefore, I believe we owe it to our guests to explain why we have yet to open for dine-in and that is due to the passing of my Uncle Ty, Twin Lion’s co-founder.
My dad, Hoat, and my Uncle Ty opened this restaurant in March of 1990 after emigrating from Southeast Asia to begin a better life. Ever since then, my cousins have scooped your rice bowls, my aunts have filled your iced teas, and my dad has cooked your meals. In the years just prior to COVID, my father and uncle began to realize that they needed to make technological and systemic changes in order to remain sustainable. We were on track to make these changes that would alleviate some of the stresses of working in a restaurant for over 30 years, but COVID and the passing of my uncle has set us back significantly.
Your continued patronage continues to humble us every day. 2020 has challenged us considerably and we would be eternally grateful if you would consider extending your generosity towards us in the form of donations. Your help in facilitating these changes will ensure Twin Lion continues to serve Austin in years to come.
