Help BBFO during the 2021 Covid-19 crisis

As BBFO is no longer able to fully open the Lodge and accommodate guests as a hostel for the early part of 2021 at least, the observatory, like many other charities, has a much reduced income.

BBFO is still running the monitoring side of the Obs, and still has staff to pay, fuel to buy, and equipment to pay for.

BBFO's projected loss for the season is again over £20k if we are not able to operate at all due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

We cannot furlough our staff and allow them to continue working. If we furlough them we will not be able to do any of our vital monitoring work.

We fully understand that for many of you, your earning potential has been restricted too, but if you, our loyal friends, feel like you could support us by donating just a few pounds, it will help us keep running through these difficult times and will help us come through this crisis.

The wildlife of Bardsey still needs to be monitored and cared for, and the dedicated staff, who will spend many months in isolation on the island, will continue to work to get the job done.

Staff returned to the island in March and our income potential is vastly reduced until we can operate fully again. We are taking guests, but only about 10% of our capacity

Due to our fundraising efforts, some generous donations and Government grants last year, our predicted deficit did not come true, but again we need to try and raise funds this year so as not to have a big deficit in 2021. It is unlikely we will get any Government funding this year.
