Covid19 - Vouch for Non-Citizen Casual Workers

Donation protected
To help and assist members of our community who have been impacted by the fall of the Hospitality industry due to the Coronavirus. We achieve this by providing funding for the basic living needs in the form of vouchers for workers who have lost their jobs in Hospitality and have zero access to government funding.

These are people who meet the below criteria:

Non-citizen and  Non-Residents of Australia
Industry of work - Hospitality & Tourism and related industries such as Commercial Cleaners
Does not have access to government funding

How we got started
My best friend recently saw her entire industry collapse in one night, resulting in the loss of hundreds of jobs (across hospitality, hotels etc). It was incredibly confronting witnessing this firsthand & in her heartbreak, she came up with a brilliant idea to help support those in need.

A lot of these people have come from overseas and aren’t PR/citizens with access to government funding & a lot of them are unable to travel home due to travel restrictions.

So with a handful of good friends we decided to pool some funding together to create a few short-term relief care packages to cover their groceries for 2 weeks while they figure out their next best steps. So far we’ve given away 5 of these! We’ll be sharing some of these stories shortly in a video release.

And the list is GROWING! There’s so many more that need support AND with your help, we can scale this up to reach an even greater amount of people in need.

Where will the funds go?
The funds will go to providing a 2 week essentials grocery list to cover all meals for the individual. If you have made a contribution – we will let you know how many people / meals it covers. AND we will also let you know the name & a bit of a background of the person you have decided to help via a Thank you msg directly from them J

What happens to any additional funding that doesn’t go towards these short term packages?
The funding page allows full visibility of all contributions, and we will continue to update everyone with the number of people we’ve been able to support through this initiative.
Any additional funding will be contributed to the following fund of your choice (i.e. we will reach out to ask you if we’ve raised enough to cover the community we’re reaching out to)

-          Food Bank Australia
-          OzHarvest
-          Citylife Community Care

What about if I know someone who is going through this at the moment?
Flick us an email at [email redacted] . Obviously we’re still trying to figure out the best way to manage this, with social isolation etc!

How are the pacakges dropped off?
Safety is a priority for us, so my friend & I will pack it and drop it off at the front of their place (while it is safe to do so). If government regulation requires us to stay home completely, we will mail them a Coles / Myer voucher & a list of purchases they will require to cover all grocery expenses for the 2 weeks, including recipe cards!
