COVID19 Shields for Modesto & Portland Hospitals

Donation protected

Donations Closed
Thank you for making this project a success! Health Care providers who received face shields (thanks to your donation) expressed what an important tool these shields are in protecting them in this crazy time. I wish you could have been there to hear the stories and to hear their gratitude when dropping these needed tools off.

Please read through the Updates below to see some of the pictures and messages from Medical Providers or received these Face Shields.

We are so happy you partnered with us to make this impact in this unprecedented time.

Thanks you,
Brent, Jason, Brandon

Mission

To support the hard working nurses and doctors in Modesto CA & Portland OR (where our teams are located), we are building and donating 4000 Face Shields.

(update) Due to the generous and passionate response in participation, we met our goal of $5,000 in a matter of days! This encouraged us to work harder and up our production from 1000 to 4000 Face Shields! Therefore our goal is increased to $20,000. Thanks for supporting our medical community along with us and thank you for sharing this with friends!

Why
Common safety supplies are in high demand and difficult for hospitals to obtain during this crisis. Medical providers are working around the clock, despite the risk of contracting the virus. Friends working at hospitals in Modesto shared experiences of shortages of common supplies. One of these needed supplies are Face Shields. Face Shields are a critical tool to protect medical providers.  We are in contact with the Assistant Director at Doctor’s Medical Center in Modesto. She is grateful and excited to know  people are contributing to their needs and exclaimed she is given years of joy by this gesture. By contributing, you are helping to keep nurses and doctors safe in Modesto as they come to the aid of our community and battle this virus.

Where are Face Shields going?
We are donating Face Shields to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto California and to Providence Hospital in Portland Oregon. Our business is located in these two towns and we want to give our friends, family and associates the opportunity to give back here. Because so many of you are from (or have friend in) these two main locations (California and Oregon), we want to give you the opportunity to  determine where your Face Shields go.  If you desire, simply indicate "CA" or "OR" along with your name in your donation. Even if your donation is private, our administrator can see it and make sure your gift is sent to the hospital of your choice.

How Are Funds Used?

I'm glad you asked... 100% off the funds are used for manufacturing face shields. This includes filament for the 3D Printers,  bands to fasten them to the users,  and the clear shield itself. We are not using any funds to pay ourselves as all assembly time is donated.  $5 will build one Face Shield.

Who we are
We are Key Dollar Cab -- a farm equipment manufacturer with locations in Portland OR and Salida CA (next to Modesto). We serve the ag community with our Orchard Cabs but today (with your help) we hope to give to the medical community our time time, talent, and tools.

Thank you for joining us!

Don't forget to share this with friends.
In fact, you better share this now before you get busy.

The Heroes
I recently saw this message from my sister-in-law Paige Bavaro who posted it on Facebook. Paige is a nurse who helps with the cardiac division at Doctor's Medical Center. I think it shares the struggle all medical providers are facing.
" After working the last four days straight, my hands are cracked and burning from washing my hands so much. The bridge of my nose feels bruised and my cheeks are sore from the masks. That was only four days. Others that have been in COVID rooms with the patients for longer hours and more days than I are struggling with these AND have sores behind their ears and indentions on their faces (from masks). Prayers for all the healthcare workers on the frontline and a little dedication to a few nurses I worked with these last few days for going straight to the frontline to care for these patients. #stayhome #icantstayhome @ California "

Below are some pictures we started to receive after our first delivery was made. And when I say "right after" I mean they were using them and sending us pictures in less than 30 minutes from delivery. Isn't it wonderful to know your participation is immediately going into the hands of medical providers who need these so greatly! Thanks for joining us on this endeavor in this time of need.
