COVID19 Face Shields for Southern Illinois

Hi! I'm Dav Glass and I'm the founder and Chairmen of HackSI. HackSI is a nonprofit in Southern Illinois with a primary goal of spreading technology education. In the middle of this COVID crisis we have chosen to offer our technology to help local healthcare workers in this time of need.
We found plans online to make face shields with a laser and with a few trial and error runs we arrived at a valid prototype.
We then reached out to several health care providers and the response for these shields was incredible. So we decided to make as many of them as we could.
With support from a local politician and friend (Andrew Wilson ) and local small businesses (SI Print Shop and The UPS Store in Marion IL) we started production.
With the help of friends and their laser, we are able to produce about 100 shields per day.
Over on my website I have released all the files we use, the materials list and instruction sheets for shield assembly.
We are raising money to help buy more materials, as well as for maintenance on our lasers. As we utilize our lasers to cut these materials we are actively using up our laser tube that will need to be replaced.
As we all deal with this pandemic, we are trying to do our part and help support our healthcare workers. They are our first line of defense and they need our support to help protect them.
