Covid19 - Job Loss - Brain Haemorrhage

I am running this medical campaign on behalf of my friend (Sapon Naskar). He needs money to take care of his father, who recently had a major stroke (brain haemorrhage). 

Before I say why I am running this campaign, please read his note first.

My father Sristi Dhar Naskar just had a major brain stroke on early hours of 27 May 2020. We have admitted in CK Birla Hospital (CMRI – The Calcutta Medical Research Institute)  where doctors confirmed that he suffered a major brain haemorrhage. CT Brain revealed large basal ganglia bleed. Baseline GCS E3 V2 M6, his GCS deteriorating in a very critical situation and kept in Neuro ICU in Ventilation. Doctors have suggested a continuous treatment as the only option to make him stable with 30% chance to save his life.

 

My father is a retired person with no income from any sources. I am working in a private company but unfortunately on leave without pay from the last 3 months due to Covid-19 pandemic. We have a small health Insurance with which we have admitted my father in CMRI to get initial early treatment. Since the hospital is very costly (charging INR 45K/ GBP500 per day), we won’t be able to continue our treatment and due to this Covid-19 pandemic, there are no  ICU admissions in government hospitals at the moment.  I am left with limited savings and struggling to continue this treatment.

 

Estimated Cost: Daily treatment where costs can go up to Rs. 15 Lakhs keeping the cost of daily would be INR45000 / GBP 500 per day at least for one month. Daily ongoing treatment includes:

Inj Mannitol 100ml IV thrice daily

Inj Levipil 500 mg IV twice daily

Inj Pan 40 mg once daily before breakfast

Inj Supacef 1.5gm IV twice daily

Tab Rozavel 20mg once daily after food

Tab Coversyl-AM (4/5) 1 tab once daily

Tab Metocard XL 12.5 mg once daily

Ventilation

Sedation

Ryle’s tube, Foley’s catheter

 

If we estimate the total expenses, total charges go to a mammoth INR 15-20 Lakhs/GBP 20K in CMRI Hospital (The Calcutta Medical Research Institute). Charges include as explained in above lines ).

Why am I running a campaign for him? 

I can understand how traumatic it is for the entire family when something like this happens to their dear ones. 

At the end of 2018, my father had a similar situation. He also suffered from a stroke (brain haemorrhage). When I was speaking to him and I was re-living that unforgettable painful memory. I remember the time when you see your world crashing in just a few seconds and then even if you don't believe in god, you start praying. 

As I and my family had gone through with a similar tough situation and, I think no one can understand their situation batter than me. 

Thankfully, by god's grace,  when we had a similar situation we were able to cover up major expenses from our savings and medical insurance but it is not the case with everyone.

My friend is the only breadwinner in his family and he is not on the job for more than 3 months due to the current COVID 19 crises. 

He has already exhausted his savings and medical insurance covers. His younger brother (who is an undergraduate) used to earn some money by tutoring but that is also not working any more. 

His family is in a big crisis, other than medical bills at the hospital, one needs a lot of money to continue taking care of your loved ones at home.
