800,000,000 global citizens menstruate daily.
Despite menstruation being a natural biological process, financial barriers still hinder access to menstrual hygiene products in the 21st century. Period poverty (defined as the lack of access to sanitary products) is often categorized as a problem of the emerging world. However, nearly one-quarter of Canadian women struggle to pay for menstrual products. These basic necessities are beyond the reach of society’s most vulnerable.

Shed Red is a student-run organization that employs a 360-degree approach to addressing menstrual inequity. Our mission consists of three distinct pillars: empowering communities by equipping individuals with menstrual hygiene products, inspiring agents of change, and dispelling the stigma surrounding this topic. How to Create a Tangible Impact?
In the face of COVID-19, Shed Red's vision has become increasingly important. The burden of the pandemic has been especially high for vulnerable members of society, specifically the homeless population and disadvantaged women/girls. Shed Red is fundraising to establish an emergency relief fund in this time of crisis. The proceeds of your donations will go towards equipping the following community organizations with menstrual hygiene products (pads, tampons, diva cups): the Mustard Seed in Victoria (British Columbia), Sistering in Toronto, and the London Abused Women's Centre.
