COVID19 Relief: Support Unity & Survival Program

The Philadelphia Liberation Center (operated by the Philly branch of the Party for Socialism and Liberation) and the Norris Square Community Action Network are launching a new project to offer relief for our neighbors during the Coronavirus pandemic: the Unity & Survival Program. The US Program will be coordinating pickup and delivery services for our neighbors, especially elders, those with chronic illnesses, and higher risk people. Donated money will go towards buying food, supplies, and any other expenses necessary to take care of people.

The coronavirus disease is causing havoc throughout society, especially on elders and people with chronic illnesses. Many poor and working class people have lost hours and pay as their jobs shut down, and for the majority, sick pay or other forms of relief are not available. Capitalists and capitalist-minded people are taking advantage of the situation, with hoarding and price gouging only making matters worse. We are facing a many-sided crisis, with public health and economic concerns at the forefront.

In times like these, we have to unite to protect ourselves, especially the most vulnerable among us. With no end to this crisis in sight, it is clearer than ever that the United States government is not willing to provide for the people, because it will always put business and profit over humanity. We need to organize and mobilize ourselves responsibly to protect ourselves as a class. Working people will unite in this moment and emerge even more stronger and united. This is a time for solidarity! Dare to struggle, dare to win!
