Covid-19 Box
Recently 3 local Business Owners in Burlington, Graham Paulsen, Jack vanderDeen, and Stuart Keary came together in collaboration with Dr. Tennille Paulsen to create a local version of the “Covid-19 Box”, originating from Taiwan.
_____
The purpose of this box is to help protect our Healthcare workers as they intubate critically ill patients that have COVID-19. Due to the nature of the intubation process, during this time they are at the highest risk of contracting the infection. By using the Covid-19 Box, healthcare workers have an added measure of protection. We also hope to bolster their confidence, aiding them to intubate and better care for their patients.
_____
Our goal is to raise $10,000 to build 25 Covid-19 boxes and supply them local hospitals.
It is important for us to come together as a community and do what we can to help our Frontline workers!

OUR STORY
A Burlington, Ontario designer first came across the idea that his wife, a local ER physician, had heard of by shared links amongst Colleagues. In essence, a Taiwanese Doctor had devised a plexiglass shield to form a containment box to better protect him and his colleagues during the COVID-19 pandemic. He deemed it an open-source idea to benefit everyone facing the pandemic.
Having a closer look, they realized this might be something that would be useful for Dr. Tennille's work, and this is within reach in terms of being able to build this box.
Graham proceeded to contact a local builder to create the first prototypes and use them to measure and find proper sizing for the hospital beds here.
With feedback from Dr. Tennille and her ER team, the box design was taken to a local manufacturer whose regular work is in manufacturing systems to refine the build and devise a method to make the box en mass.
“We were relieved to know that we could provide access to such a box and it could be produced locally and provide greater protection for our healthcare workers, giving them the confidence to do what they need to do. ” Jack vanderDeen, President of Promech Enterprises
