COVID-2019 Community Response - Food Security
Tax deductible
As we witness the spread of the novel coronavirus across our local communities and the world, we find ourselves reflecting on privilege.
Many populations from low-resource areas in Chicago are facing food and wellness insecurity. Without paid leave, the choice between a paycheck and potential exposure is stark.
We want to believe that we, as a broad community, have the humanity and awareness to act. Let's do something.
The goal is to raise $15,000 to provide 150 at-risk Chicago families with $100 grocery e-gift cards to combat food insecurity. We are launching with our own $1,000 contribution, and will match any individual contribution of $720.
Our goal is to raise $15,000 in 15 days, by March 30, 2020.
The gift cards will be distributed through Horizons for Youth, a Chicago-based non-profit focused on helping children recognize and achieve their full potential.
