India COVID Relief - O2 Concentrators [Khalsa Aid]

In honor of my grandmother's passing, I am raising funds to help support Khalsa Aid India's efforts in providing free oxygen concentrators to COVID Care Centers and local residents.

My nani passed away from COVID-19

Last month, my grandmother (may God have mercy upon her) passed away from COVID-19. Within three weeks, she went from being fully healthy to completely gone, her soul having returned back to her Creator. In her honor: oxygen concentrators with Khalsa Aid India

​In honor of the profound impact she had on me and so many others, I am raising money for Khalsa Aid India to support their incredible efforts in providing urgently needed oxygen concentrators to Delhi COVID Care Centers and local residents.​

The Grim Reality in India

As of 5/4/21, India accounted for 46% of new COVID cases worldwide and a quarter of global deaths. Some forecasters warn that COVID deaths could hit the 1 million mark by July, perhaps even sooner given the severe underreporting of deaths. Given the inadequate government response to the crisis, it is especially important we each do our part in supporting India during this crisis.

Why oxygen concentrators?

● When my grandmother and grandfather first experienced COVID-19 symptoms, they both relied heavily upon an oxygen concentrator to support their breathing. I am blessed to say my grandfather overcame the worst of COVID-19. However, he continues to utilize an oxygen concentrator as part of his recovery process.

● There is an immense shortage of both hospital beds and oxygen cylinders for folks in India. Oxygen concentrators provide COVID-positive patients immediate support at home in stabilizing their oxygen levels.

● Oxygen concentrators do not need to be replaced or refilled in order to continue functioning.

● Oxygen concentrators can be reused and shared with others in need.

● Although not a complete substitute to an oxygen cylinder, an oxygen concentrator significantly eases the stress incurred by the lungs due to COVID-19.​

Why Khalsa Aid India?​

Khalsa Aid India is a chapter of Khalsa Aid International (which was recently nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize). Aside from their years of work providing support and relief to various communities across India, Khalsa Aid India has been on the ground delivering oxygen concentrators to residents in Delhi. They have already delivered over 300 machines and, with your donations, are hoping to acquire ~5,000 concentrators to distribute across other cities as well. As a grassroots organization, they have volunteers ready and able to help as more supplies become available to provide. Further, much of the aid being distributed through official channels is not reaching those most in need.

Donation Questions

To ensure all funds are directly sent to Khalsa Aid's India-based chapter conducting COVID relief work, I will personally collect the funds from this fundraiser and send the money directly to them. The funds will be provided to them through their Impact Guru page, which accepts payments from the U.S., my country of residence. I have confirmed with Khalsa Aid India that money raised through this fundraiser can be donated to them directly. For all those who sign up for email updates, I will provide proof of donation once this campaign is over.

Our entire family has been deeply humbled by all the prayers for my nani and the support given to us. I hope, by God's Will, this campaign serves as a way to both carry on my nani's legacy of uplifting those around her as well as serving as a continuous charity (sadaqah jaariyah) that will uplift her own soul even closer to The Most Merciful.
