Cow Microsanctuary needs your help!

About 30% of people with early stage breast cancer go on to develop stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. I was one of the 30%. Now, I need help with some pasture infrastructure and to buy hay for the rescued cows in our vegan microsanctuary, Marsha's Place.

 

In November of 2015, I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer of my right breast. After 1 year of treatment consisting of several surgeries (including a mastectomy of my right breast), chemotherapy, and radiation I was considered NED (no evidence of disease). Soon after the cancer seemed to be gone my husband and I came across a bedraggled little heifer bound for slaughter. This cow, who I named Marsha, stole our hearts, and in 2017 we promised her a forever home. As time went on, we were able to rescue two of her sisters and their babies as well. Now our little modest microsanctuary is home to 6 very loved, very spoiled, forever companion cows.

 

I thought my battle against breast cancer had been won, but in July 2021, after having significant low back and hip pain for months, scans discovered the breast cancer had returned and spread to many of my bones.

 

I have been off work since mid-July due to this new diagnosis of stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. With the increased medical costs and loss of my income, we are very quickly eating through our humble savings. We are hoping for some help with our winter hay needs and some much needed infrastructure improvements around our pasture. The good people at CRITTER CREEK FARM, LLC, kindly offered to help with coordinating the donations, purchase, and transportation of hay and materials to our sanctuary. This go fund me was set in place to allow all donations to be made directly through them.

No amount is too small. It all adds up. Truly. We are hoping to raise enough funds to cover our winter hay needs ($3,000) and to cover fence repairs and the cost of a treatment lane and stall, making medical procedures SAFE ($2,500).
