Cowbridge RFC u16's Nertherlands tour fundraiser

The pandemic sadly scuppered many children's sports tours, including for our u16s Rugby squad (the video shows one of the things they occupied themselves with during lockdown!).

Cowbridge RFC is a local grassroots rugby club. We try and arrange a tour for our mini and junior teams each year, usually locally in the UK, and occasionally overseas. We are currently arranging a tour for this team to the Netherlands, in June ‘24 - it will be their first since the start of the pandemic.

The club are keen to ensure that every member of the squad is included and able to attend the tour, irrespective of the impact of these difficult financial times on individual players and their families, and we are now in the process of fundraising. We are hoping to cover the costs for all players, with parents to pay for themselves. Our target to cover these costs is to raise around £10,000 (£5,000 through GoFundMe)

The boys are actively involved in fundraising themselves and have already completed bag-packing days at Tesco & Waitrose (raising over £2,000!) and started (and are still running) a tuckshop at matches. They will continue to raise funds themselves with further events including: completing a physical challenge with sponsorship to be found by the boys, and a carol-singing event this Christmas.

Parents have also been shoulder-to-the-wheel in fundraising and have so far raised another £1,300 from a curry day held at the clubhouse.

We do however need to supplement these funds with donations, and would be hugely grateful for yours , big or small!
