Cox family loses nearly everything in house fire

On January 8, 2023, the Cox family’s home of 20 years caught on fire starting from the children’s room spreading throughout other rooms and caused an insane amount of damage to the home. 2 adults Larry & Joan Cox, 1 child, & 2 huskies were inside the home when the fire started. One of the dogs, Koda got stuck in the house while it was filling with smoke. Larry went back in to get him but could not see anything due to the amount of black smoke and came out with his face, hair, & clothes all black. Thankfully, Koda was rescued out by the Vincennes Fire Department. Koda was collapsed outside the house, his all white fur was covered in black, he was not getting any oxygen, was completely limp, eyes bloodshot, and his gums were blue. The homeowners daughter rushed him to Southgate emergency vet to be stabilized. All 3 people got transferred to the emergency room. Joan just recently had a foot surgery that caused her to be in a boot and on a scooter. When she ran outside to get out of the fire, she rebroke her foot, we are waiting on an update to see if she will need surgery again. Everyone is stable and okay & we are so thankful for that. Sadly, a home of 20 years really took a beating and it is not in livable conditions anymore and won’t be for a long while. The family is looking for housing right now for up to a year & trying to grasp the reality of losing their home and many memories of the things that were lost in there. Any donations towards food, vet fees for Koda, healthcare, housing, or damages would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you so much in advance.
