Coyote Enclosure Upgrade

The Creature Conservancy is a nonprofit organization dedicated to Conservation through Education.  Our resident animals are mostly rescues or surrendered pets, and all work as ambassadors in our displays, presentations, camps, and other educational programs. We lead programs about animal biology & ecology, as well as the conservation issues facing wildlife.

Our coyote, Piper, is in need of an enclosure upgrade to an outdoor, open air space that will allow her to exercise & receive enrichment, as well as provide a safer way for staff to feed her and clean for her. 

Right now Piper lives in a temporary enclosure constructed when she and her companion, Cooper, became unable to live together safely in their shared, purpose-built enclosure. For her safety and welfare, she needs an individual space with more room to exercise than her current setup provides. The plan is to construct a  permanent space for her behind our reindeer pasture, where she can explore her surroundings with confidence and enjoy the solitude she prefers.  She is a very cautious, relatively timid animal- and right now her holding area is very central on our campus, meaning she is exposed to more noise and activity than is ideal for her. 

The more money we can raise, the larger Piper's new enclosure will be!  Each $1,000 raised will construct a secure, durable 10 x 10 section of her outdoor permanent enclosure. The materials are modular- each $1,000 we can raise adds 100 square feet to Pipers new home. We have already raised $1,500 from an extremely generous donor- enough to begin the project and construct a minimal shift pen and staff access area. Please help us reach or exceed our goal of 500 square feet for this intelligent, beautiful animal.


Piper has lived at The Creature Conservancy since she was very young, and all the staff here are very committed to  her, and to maintaining a high standard of care for the rest of her life. This campaign was created by employees of The Creature Conservancy and all funds will be spent directly on construction materials for Piper's space.
