A year ago I was trying to figure out if I wanted to pursue my own home staging business. As I was writing different ideas down I landed on one that just stuck which was to use my passion of home staging and design to help people in our community that have fallen on hardships and need a helping hand turning their house into a home. I researched and found that the need for this type of ministry work was desperately needed in our community. It would take a lot of moving parts logistically and I felt led to “be still” with this and let the pieces fall into place.
Over the last year I thought about it non stop! When Covid-19 hit and we were all quarantined, my mom and I started helping make masks for those in need for free. We made over 1,000 masks for our community. At times people would give me donations to help buy extra supplies and I set aside that money and only used what I needed for just that.
I was literally taking a break one day from sewing and scrolling through Facebook and saw a friend made a post about a family who had lost their jobs because of Covid shutdowns and sold their furniture to get through this rough patch. They needed everything to fill their home back up again. I knew this was it! I knew I could help. I went and met with her to hear more of the story and their needs! We reached out to our community with the list of items to turn their house back into a home and within 6 days filled their walls with amazing donated items. I was able to use the “mask money” I had been saving for any extras we needed.
While in the process of working with this family, another friend reached out and said she had a family that urgently needed help and if I had an extra donated items could we share them. I went and met with the second family and in three days transformed their bare walls into a home as well.
So in two short weeks a group of amazing friends that have chipped in without any hesitation have helped pick up donations all over the area, painted, searched for items we still needed, loaded cars, unloaded cars and help these families have a fresh start on life again! This community has brought us all to tears with their generosity and reasons why this has inspired them to want to help.
The outpouring of encouragement for a Non-profit like this in our area brings me to my knees. I know now more than ever this world, and our community wants and needs to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. We need to give back to our neighbor. We need tears of joy. We need to help each other.
We are moving forward with an official Non-Profit called The Pineapple Projects! And we are so excited to bring this powerful movement right here to our community! There are costs involved such as storage units, truck rentals, and having to buy some items new for each family. If you feel led to give financially, we would love for you to be involved in The Pineapple Projects too! We have started this page while we are in the waiting to become official and offer other ways to contribute. Please understand that any donation until we are set up may not be tax deductible until we are approved.
We appreciate all the donations thus far, the enthusiasm and encouragement to take this leap of faith to help a lot of sweet and deserving families in our own neighborhoods turn their house into a home! Come join us! We’d love to have you involved in our upcoming projects.
