Memorial Fund for Craig Beatty

We are sad to announce that our father Craig Knell Beatty was called to his heavenly home on February 17, 2023, surrounded by family after 19 months of battling cancer. Craig was diagnosed with stage four esophageal cancer in July of 2021. His doctors found a 5cm wide mass at the base of his esophagus. Shortly thereafter Craig began to receive daily chemotherapy treatments and weekly immunotherapy treatments.

At first, the treatments were successful and the doctors were able to eliminate the esophageal cancer but the tumor remained. Soon after, the cancer metastasized to his liver. In May of 2022, Craig received a stent that was intended to allow Craig to eat by mouth. Nonetheless, the stent was unsuccessful and fell into his stomach. After three painful days in the ICU, the stent was removed and a feeding tube was placed to allow him to eat. The following two months were filled with trips to Idaho and Utah and lots of time spent with family and friends. Craig continued to work until the cancer progressed and eventually had to step away from his job as an electrician. In August of 2022, Craig's cancer metastasized again to his liver, lungs, and lymph nodes. At the same time, Craig began experiencing internal bleeding and consistently received blood transfusions. Cancer treatments were halted due to the bleeding and were never resumed. In November, Craig's doctor told him he had 2-3 weeks left to live and was placed on Hospice. Craig proved his doctors wrong and lived for 3.5 more months in the comfort of his home with his family.

We are extremely grateful for our friends and family that have sent flowers, cards, prayers, and well wishes. Many have reached out to ask how to best help our family. The purpose of this Gofundme is to help us manage the heavy financial burden of two funerals, as well as travel expenses for the family. The remaining funds will be used to support Kristen Beatty, Craig's wife, as she adjusts to life without her eternal companion.
