Craig’s cancer story
Donation protected
Craig has been diagnosed with Stage 4, Gleason Score 9 with adenocarcinoma prostate cancer.
Cancer is not only a devastating diagnosis for any family to deal with but it is extremely expensive to treat. Craig and I live on social security checks and a small pension check and there is no way we can afford his cancer treatments. Apparently the government and state decided we make too much money for any assistance. Craig and I get social security and a small pension check We were barely surviving with today’s high prices before he was diagnosed and are sinking very fast with his cancer treatments.
Our monthly medications are $400 without the cancer medications. He is taking 2 injections in his stomach of firmagon each month for $1000 copay and 4 pills a day of Erleada copay $3300 a month. I have applied with every organization available for help with his cancer medications but so far no definite answer yet if any will help. We have a bill of $2807.00 at a local hospital and it is just the first month of treatment.
We had a son pass away in 2006 He had been in Iraq for 18 months and was finally home. I thought he was finally safe. How wrong I was. He was in a wedding and was on his way to the reception when a car sideswiped him into the bridge guardrail while on his motorcycle. Unfortunately he died instantly. My younger son is the one who found him and had to call us with the devastating news. I tell this because he is named after his father and I just can not stand the thought of living without both of my Craig Patrick’s.
MD Anderson cancer center in Houston, Texas has accepted Craig for a second opinion of his treatment. Flying there and the expenses of hotel, transportation and food will be approximately $1400.
I am asking for help to raise $10,400 which is $1400 for trip to MD Anderson, cancer medications for two months which is $8600 and doctor visits of $400. I have hopes of getting other assistance from one of the organizations I have applied with for medication assistance. If not I will be asking for more assistance. I don’t have any other option.
I would like to say a very heartfelt thank you to anyone who can assist with treatment with this terrible disease.
