Craig’s Life Saving Cancer Treatment
Donation protected
Please save my grandad! I really want to be able to remember him when I grow up.
My grandad is really poorly and has cancer in is liver which is a really rare type and there is no NHS funding to save him! But he is the best grandad ever, I’m not even one years old yet and if he doesn’t get the treatments he needs then all I will have of him is photos, he loves his beloved Manchester City and I want him to be able to take me to my first football match and make more memories and for him to be able to hear me say his name one day. My mummy tells me all the time that he has been the best step dad growing up and I am the love of his life now he has his very own precious grandchild. My mummy, and nana and all my family are getting as much money together as they can, but his treatment is really expensive! But there is no price that can be put on my grandad’s life, so any donation would be we would be extremely grateful for to help him get better.
My nana will tell you more in detail below, about the treatment he needs and the costs that unfortunately come with it below.
Unfortunately, Craig was diagnosed with a rare Ocular Uveal Melanoma 2 years ago, where only 300-600 people are diagnosed a year in the UK, although its called Melanoma its not because of Sun radiation but down to Pigmentation,. Craig received Proton Beam Treatment at Liverpool Clatterbridge Hospital, in this type of cancer 50% of people diagnosed with this type of cancer go on to get Ocular Liver Metastasis. Sadly that has now become our reality, as this is rare the standard chemotherapy is not a good option for him as it only gives an 8% chance of survival, .The alternative we were given on from the NHS was a trial that would be opening in the next 2-3months, as you can imagine hearing this news along with limited NHS treatments has been devasting for Craig and our whole family and friends.
Having done much research Craig's best option is treatment called Chemotherapy saturation (link of video to explain this treatment below) which is available a as Private patient at The Christie hospital, .The treatment cost is £40,000 thousand per course of treatment of which Craig will need 3 courses. We as a family are pulling together to try and raise £80,000 thousand to pay for 2 courses, but we desperately need help raising money for the 3rd course. Craig is the most amazing partner and has been the best stepdad for the past 15 years, and now he’s a Grandad to our beautiful 9-month-old Grandson who literally is the love of Craig's life, Craig's biggest fear is not be there to watch him grow which is heart-breaking.
We are reaching out to raise funds (£40,000) for one course of chemo-saturation, as it's private treatment some other costs like MRI and consultation costs are separate to the target set, so if you could please donate no matter how much it would be so appreciated and you could quite literally be helping to save somebody’s life. So please if you can donate and share, share, share this post it would be amazing.
