Craig’s BARE FOOT Mount Snowdon Challenge via Crib Goch

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Craig Batchelor and I am fundraising in memory of a dearly loved family member. George Dillon suffered a traumatic brain injury May of last year when he was involved in a catastrophic road accident. Very sadly doctors advised George’s injuries were unsurvivable and removed life support 2 days later.

George was such a lovable, caring lad. If there was anything he could do to help a friend then he would, even if it meant going without himself. In the heartbreak of knowing George could not be saved his family have set up a charity CIC to fundraise in his memory and continue his legacy of helping others. The charity objectives are to raise funds to assist those in the Hampshire area, aged 5-40 years, who have suffered a traumatic/acquired brain injury who are returning home or have recently returned home after leaving hospital/rehabilitation care. They aim to provide adapted mobility aids, small home adaptations (ie. stairlifts, hoists, lowered work surfaces, wet rooms etc.) therapies and short term respite care by paying for much needed products to make living at home with loved ones as comfortable as possible.

I would very much like to help my family in their fundraising efforts. I am a keen sportsman who participates in many sports, one of those being boxing which in itself has an increased risk of brain injury, so this cause means a lot to me. I am very active with a love of the great outdoors and have previously undertaken many climbs and high adrenaline activities. When I decided to undertake a challenge on behalf of the charity I knew I had to go one step further and push my boundaries with the ultimate challenge. So on Saturday 5th October (3 weeks from tomorrow), not only will I be climbing Mount Snowdon via the Crib Goch route, I will be doing it BAREFOOT!! Yes, you have read that correctly, I am going to take on every step of the climb with no protection on my feet exposing myself to every element. With its sheer drops and exposure from the ridge it certainly is an exilerating climb unsuitable for novice walkers. The knife-edged area is the toughest route up Snowdon. It is the 3rd highest peak of the Snowdon group and the 14th highest in Snowdonia, reaching 3027ft. The name in Welsh translates to red rock.

I am appealing for your help in my quest to raise funds for such a wonderful cause. Any donation you can make is very much appreciated.
