Help park rangers in Bhutan
Tax deductible
Help me help the park rangers of Bhutan protect their forests and endangered species!
Bhutan is a carbon negative country that sits in the eastern Himalayas between China, Nepal, and India. Its progressive environmental policies have been called “an inspiration and a role model for the world” by the United Nations. But that doesn’t mean they can go it alone.
I’m raising donations to support Rally for Rangers in its mission to provide vital equipment to park rangers in developing countries. These rangers have much less support than their American counterpart.
In November 2024 we are delivering 15 motorcycles to rangers in Bhutan. Your donation will help purchase one of those motorcycle and deliver it to park rangers who work daily fighting against poaching, looting, illegal mining, and deforestation.
You might think of motorcycles primarily as recreational vehicles. But in most of the world’s less developed countries, motorcycles are an essential mode of transportation, especially in remote areas with few or no roads.
Imagine trying to protect snow leopards from poachers, and all you have to patrol with is a bicycle, or maybe a horse? Rangers in places like Bhutan rely on motorcycles to move quickly across often vast stretches of rough terrain to guard precious natural resources – protecting endangered species, cultural sites, and public lands.
Rally for Rangers is a volunteer-driven project of the Mongol Ecology Center, a 501(c)(3) organization leveraging adventure philanthropy to help park rangers around the world. Since its founding in 2014, Rally for Rangers volunteers have delivered nearly 200 motorcycles and other support equipment to countries including Mongolia, Argentina, Nepal, Peru, Bhutan, and Namibia, and to the Oglala Sioux Tribe in South Dakota.
Please join me in giving the rangers of Bhutan the help they need. Many employers offer matching grants. Your contribution is 100% tax deductible. Thank you for your support!
UPDATE: Original goal of $12,000 was reached but we still need help covering the GoFundMe overhead (2.9%). Remember to check if your employer will match donations to Mongol Ecology Center, which is a 501(c)(3) charity.
